I have now heard back from all programs that I auditioned for: Peridance Capezio Certificate Program, Bolshoi Ballet Summer Intensive, Ailey School, and Joffrey Ballet School.

Thank you for auditioning, said Peridance.  You have not been accepted to the certificate program, however, you would be a good fit for our pre-certificate program, a preparatory semester.

I tucked that in my pocket to save it.  An opportunity for training!  I was thrilled.

Thank you for auditioning, said Bolshoi NYC Summer Intensive.  You have not been accepted.

Oh well.  I moved on to the next thing.

And then...

Thank you for auditioning, said the Ailey School.  You have been accepted to the Professional Summer Intensive and the Independent Study Program for 2016-2017 school year.

Thank you for auditioning, said the Joffrey Ballet School.  You have been accepted to the following sixteen programs.

Yes, after training on my own through an open program and going to Pilates and Yoga and also somehow finishing all my homework and participating in an internship, the Ailey School and the Joffrey Ballet School saw something in me, and they offered me chances to study in their year round programs.

I was at work when I got the Joffrey emails and I almost screamed at my desk.  Bolshoi Intensive, the email read.  Study in Moscow for four weeks.  Ballet Trainee, the other email said.  Four years in the center of NYC dance culture.  I've been in a state of frayed nerves since I retrieved the emails from my spam (yikes) and the midterms and papers due this week didn't help.

But here I am now, someone who took a lengthy break during the time when other dance students are perfecting pointe work and participating in YAGP, and I managed still to find a place in two incredible dance schools.

Now I just need to make decisions.
